About

A group of local citizens organized the Clallam-Jefferson Community Action Council in 1966. These men and women recognized then the unmistakable signs of poverty lurking in the shadows of the majestic Olympic Mountains – poor health, hunger, high unemployment, and homelessness. In 2000, the nonprofit organization was renamed, and again in 2025, to Olympic Community Action Partnership (OlyCAP). For over 55 years, since its founding, OlyCAP has offered dozens of programs and services in response to the unique needs of its community. Services

  • Children & Youth Services
  • This service area includes programs such as after school and summer programs, head start, childcare, and housing services for youth.
  • Disability + Senior Services
  • This service area includes programs such as adult day centers, food home delivery, housing services, and utility discounts.
  • Transportation
  • This service area includes programs such as bus passes, gas cards, medical transportation and van service.
  • Emergency Services
  • This service area includes programs such as food banks, emergency shelters, motel vouchers and rental/mortgage assistance.
  • Energy Assistance & Weatherization
  • This service area includes programs such as emergency shut off prevention, energy assistance, heating system repairs, minor home repair and weatherization.
  • Housing Assistance
  • This service area includes programs such as affordable housing, permanent supportive housing, rental assistance, and homelessness prevention and rapid rehousing.
  • Veterans
  • This service area includes programs such as counseling for veterans, housing services for veterans, and supportive services to veterans and families.

Programs

Washington's Poverty Fighting Network: 30 Community Action Agencies equipping low-income individuals and families in all 39 counties to exit poverty.
