El Centro de la Raza

About
Founded in 1972, El Centro de la Raza (The Center for People of All Races) is one of six Community Action Agencies (CAA) serving the residents of King County, Washington. El Centro de la Raza is an organization that is grounded in the Latino community of Washington State; however; since its founding, El Centro de la Raza has served not only the Latino community but other diverse communities as well.
This CAA has stood in solidarity with numerous social justice movements throughout the years. El Centro de la Raza believes that their community can effectively address the profound issues facing the world through civic involvement, grassroots organizing, and social activism. El Centro de la Raza is special because they are the only agency in our network, at this time, that offers immigrant advocacy programs.
El Centro de la Raza offers over 40 programs to meet the unique needs of their community. Services range from human and emergency services, to housing and economic development programs, education and asset building programs, to English language classes (ELL), and more! Please visit the El Centro de la Raza website to learn more about this organization, their twelve guiding principles, and program eligibility.
EL Centro de la Raza Mission: “To build the Beloved Community through unifying all racial and economic sectors; to organize, empower, and defend the basic human rights of our most vulnerable and marginalized populations; and to bring critical consciousness, justice, dignity, and equity to all the peoples of the world.”
El Centro de la Raza Vision: “We envision a world free of oppression based on poverty, racism, sexism, sexual orientation, and discrimination of any kind that limits equal access to the resources that ensure a healthy and productive life in peace, love, and harmony for all peoples and our future generations.”
